Biodynamic Gardening Seminary Series: Summer Garden Excursion in Austria
Step Inside a Living Garden: Biodynamic Practice in Lower Austria
There’s no better classroom than a garden in full summer bloom. This September, participants in Austria’s 2026 Biodynamic Gardening Seminary Series get exactly that — a full-day excursion into real, working summer gardens that embody biodynamic principles from the ground up.
What to Expect
The 9th session of this ten-part series takes the learning outdoors entirely. Rather than a lecture hall or workshop room, this date is a hands-on excursion through summer gardens across Lower Austria (Niederösterreich), giving participants the chance to see biodynamic methods alive in practice — seasonal timing, soil health, companion planting, and the integration of cosmic and ecological rhythms that define the biodynamic approach.
This series is designed as a comprehensive introduction to biodynamic horticulture, meaning each session builds on the last. Whether you’re joining for the first time or continuing from earlier dates, this excursion offers grounded, observational learning that no textbook can replicate. You walk the beds, ask the questions, and feel the difference underfoot.

Why It Matters
Biodynamic gardening sits at a rich intersection of ecology, systems thinking, and regenerative practice — values that sit at the heart of permaculture design. Observing how experienced biodynamic gardeners work with seasonal rhythms, living soil, and whole-farm organism thinking connects us to a deeper layer of land stewardship. Events like this remind our community that regeneration isn’t abstract — it’s composted, planted, harvested, and tended season by season.
